Postsecondary Readiness
East Central High School Seniors: A Call to Action for Your Future!
We are excited to ensure every senior is well-prepared for the next chapter of their lives.
Whether that leads to college, a career, or military service. Our goal is to see every senior graduate with not just a diploma, but a clear path to success. To achieve this, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) identified nine key indicators of college, career, and military readiness.
Each senior only needs to complete one of these indicators to be considered ready, but we encourage you to aim for as many as you can!
Our Preference: Texas College Bridge
Our major push this year is for the Texas College Bridge program. This exceptional opportunity is designed to ensure you are college-ready without the need for remedial coursework upon entering college. It's a powerful step toward your future success in higher education.
With Texas College Bridge, high school juniors and seniors can take online college preparatory courses, strengthening their English and math skills prior to enrolling in college and setting them on a path to postsecondary success.
Texas College Bridge courses are personalized, self-paced and teacher facilitated—allowing students to focus on skills they need and skip those they have already mastered, with teacher support along the way. Students receive additional support and resources to help them complete college transition milestones. Plus, at the time of high school graduation, they can earn a TSI exemption at more than 90 partnering colleges and universities across Texas.
The Nine Readiness Indicators (and again, you only need to do one to be considered "Ready"):
- TSI Readiness (SAT/ACT/ TSI)
- Including College Prep in Math/ELAR and the Texas College Bridge program — our primary focus at this time as mentioned up above!
- Industry-Based Certification
- Attainment shows readiness for the workforce with valuable skills.
- Military Enlistment
- Must have a signed DD4 form.
- IEP Completion and Workforce Readiness
- For those with an Individualized Education Program, completing this program demonstrates your readiness.
- Advanced Diploma and Special Education Services
- A testament to your hard work and determination.
- AP Exam Score of 3 or Higher
- With an average pass rate of 30%, this is a notable achievement.
- Dual Credit Achievement
- Earn 3 Dual Credit hours in ELAR/Math or 9 hours in other content. If you’ve achieved this, you’ve already earned credit!
- Level 1 or 2 Certification
- While we do not currently offer this, it's a future goal for our students.
- Associate's Degree
- Another future goal, showing the highest level of readiness.
How You Can Achieve Readiness
We encourage every senior to explore these indicators and find the one that best aligns with your post-graduation plans. Whether it’s furthering your education, stepping into a career, or serving our country, there is a path for you.
Let’s Make It Happen!
We are here to support you every step of the way. Please reach out to your counselors, teachers, and the college and career readiness staff for guidance and resources to complete your chosen indicator(s).
