Experience the innovative design of the Gary Patterson Center for the Performing Arts, a 37,500-square-foot facility on the East Central High School campus. Inspired by the theater production process, the layout features a circular arrangement of production rooms, including costume design, scene creation, and more. This unique design allows students, parents, and the community to witness the behind-the-scenes magic through broad windows, creating a captivating display of the artistic journey.
As a teaching tool, the building functions as a "feedback loop" around the auditorium, showcasing each phase of the performance preparation in sequence. The center houses a 1,000-seat auditorium with a lobby and stage, providing a state-of-the-art performance space. Additionally, it offers 6,800 square feet of theater program space equipped with dressing rooms, a costume/scene shop, and a full-scale rehearsal room.
Dedicated spaces for the choir, including 3,250 square feet for ensemble practice, a sound/recording room, and office space, contribute to the multifaceted functionality of the center. The thoughtful design also incorporates support areas for concessions, restrooms, and a box office, ensuring a seamless and immersive experience for all visitors.
Crafted by the renowned LPA, Inc., the Gary Patterson Center for the Performing Arts stands as a testament to innovative architectural design, creating an environment that celebrates the art of performance and education.
