East Central ISD values the voices of our families, staff, and community members. Board meetings are an important way to stay informed and engaged in the work happening across our district.

East Central ISD respects students’ rights to express their viewpoints. However, it is important to clarify several inaccuracies surrounding the February 13 incident and the narrative currently being shared publicly.

East Central ISD is proud to recognize its 2025–2026 District Teachers of the Year, honoring educators who go above and beyond to support, inspire, and uplift their students. Amanda Torres, fourth-grade teacher at Highland Forest Elementary, has been named ECISD District Teacher of the Year.

Families are invited to attend Pre-K & Kindergarten Round-Up events for the 2026–2027 school year at East Central ISD elementary campuses. These events offer an opportunity to explore programs, ask questions, and tour classrooms. Free Pre-K is available for children who are 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2026 and live within ECISD boundaries.

The East Central Independent School District Board of Trustees has approved the academic calendar for the 2026–2027 school year, providing families and staff with key dates for instruction, holidays, and professional development. The full calendar is available on the East Central ISD website.

Big news, Hornet Nation! The City of San Antonio has officially set our Class of 2026 graduation date. Join us Wednesday, May 27 at 9 a.m. at the Alamodome as we celebrate our seniors. Save the date and get ready for an unforgettable milestone!

East Central ISD ranks among San Antonio's best elementary schools in 2025, according to new Children at Risk data. Highland Forest, Salado and Oak Crest all earn Gold Ribbons. This places ECISD among a limited group of districts with multiple Gold Ribbon campuses in 2025.

We are proud to share that the Texas Education Agency has released the 2024–2025 Financial Integrity ratings, and East Central ISD has once again earned the highest score possible. ECISD received a perfect 100 and an “A” rating for Superior Achievement.

Legacy Middle School is making history with the debut of its first-ever cheer team — spirited students leading with pride, positivity, and purpose. Their journey was recently featured by KENS 5, highlighting how these young leaders are building community and spreading school spirit.

East Central ISD is hosting its Fall Job Fair on Saturday, November 15, from 9–11 a.m. at Highland Forest Elementary. We’re hiring for all positions for the 2025–2026 school year — from teachers and instructional aides to transportation, child nutrition, and support staff.

East Central ISD’s 2024–2025 Community-Based Accountability Report highlights the growth, achievements, and collaborative spirit that continue to move the district forward. It serves as a reflection of the district’s ongoing commitment to excellence and improvement.

East Central ISD’s Child Nutrition Department hosted a lively Farm Fresh Challenge event at Honor Elementary, celebrating Texas agriculture and the importance of local foods in schools. Students enjoyed a milk-themed celebration featuring guests from Dairy Max and Oak Farms.

East Central ISD will observe Red Ribbon Week®, October 27–31, 2025, promoting drug prevention and healthy choices. Campuses will take part in themed activities based on this year’s theme: “Life Is a Puzzle: EC Solves It Drug Free.” All students and staff are encouraged to participate.

Join us for a spooktacular evening of music, creativity, and fun at EC’s Got Talent 2025! The show will feature incredible student performances, a costume contest, and Halloween spirit at its best.

East Central High School’s Braylon Blair has earned a spot on the prestigious San Antonio Sports All-Star Football Team, representing East Central ISD on Team Blue at the annual All-Star Game on January 10, 2026, at the Alamodome. Congratulations, Braylon!

East Central ISD, in partnership with the Toyota USA Foundation, Texas A&M University–San Antonio, and DePelchin Children’s Center celebrated the opening of the new United Way East Central ISD Family Resource Center at Pecan Valley STEM Academy.

East Central High School's Electrathon Team proudly brought home a hard-earned 2nd place trophy from the High Plains Electrathon in Hays, Kansas — finishing just half a lap behind the long-established Kansas frontrunners — and missing 1st place by only 28 seconds!

Pecan Valley STEM Academy student Ausha Reed had her charcoal self-portrait chosen for the Texas Art Education Association’s 2025 txEDCON Exhibition in Houston, which showcased student artwork from Pre-K through 12th grade across Texas.

Four East Central FFA members proudly represented the district at the American Association for Agricultural Education’s Western Area Research Conference at Texas State University. They showcased their skills while earning recognition, scholarships, and valuable experiences.
